Reporting to the General Manager Direct Capabilities, the Senior Manager Risk – Asset Management plays a key role in supporting the implementation of the ‘first line’ of risk management within the Asset Management business. This role focuses on implementing Asset Management products and services to its investor base in a commercial, yet safe and compliant, manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the 1st Line team in the integration, implementation and embedding of new risk and compliance methodologies and frameworks for the Asset Management business.
  • Support the CEO Asset Management and the AMLT in understating their key risks and regularly monitoring them at appropriate forums.
  • Coordinate, prioritise and sequence activity and action plans across the 1st Line risk team.
  • Undertake Line 1 risk activities (incident management, control assessments, delivered risk assessments etc) for Asset Management business lines.
  • Manage, monitor and maintain a structured and systematic approach to 1st Line risk to support the identification of risk and compliance matters and their appropriate resolutions.
  • Oversee and provide risk input to projects to facilitate safe delivery and adherence to risk and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and present succinct and relevant reporting on risk and compliance matters.

 

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or extensive equivalent practical experience such as Accounting, Banking, Economics, Finance or Law.
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within the asset management sector (5 years) as it relates to fund origination and fund management.
  • Preferred 10 years+ experience in operational risk and compliance in the financial services sector. Experience in asset management or funds management is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the products and regulatory environment in respect of managed investment schemes and wholesale funds
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications
  • Strong service ethic and leadership style that places our business, investors and team before self
  • Change management and project delivery experience in relation to risk and compliance frameworks
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record showcasing an ability to motivate and drive direct reports, colleagues, senior stakeholders and the wider business to achieve a common goal
  • Proven ability to operate effectively with varying degrees of ambiguity associated with a large, complex and dynamic business.
