The Role

The purpose of the Accountant is to ensure that timely and accurate financial control and external reporting requirements of Insignia super funds are delivered to management and regulators within agreed timeframes and conform to best practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare regulatory returns in a timely manner.
  • Make fund level payments
  • All work papers are prepared in accordance with Insignia accounting and tax policies and best practice.
  • Assist with Management and Board reporting to ensure they are prepared accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Ensuring compliance requirements are met, the provision of accurate reporting and to enable required control mechanisms.
  • Maintain accounting files, update various documents and spreadsheets and databases when and as required
  • Assist with external audit process as required
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements for entities as and when required

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Degree Qualified
  • CA/CPA qualification (or in the final stage of completion) is required
  • At least 2 years of superannuation/fund accounting experience
  • Positive attitude, flexible and ability to work well with team
  • Interested in developing further knowledge about asset management industry, superannuation industry and different securities and financial products and how they support investor goals
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft office products
  • Focused on client service skills and client first thinking to achieve finance team objectives
  • Familiarity with financial regulations – ability to learn about financial laws and procedures to protect the products and ensure that they are making legal and sound decisions
  • Ability to network to build their professional network so they should be excellent relationship-builders and feel comfortable with networking to stay informed about industry trends
  • Ability to develop detailed financial documentation and be able to craft and edit documents while ensuring accuracy
  • Process review and continuous improvement – ability to critically assess processes and develop better and more efficient practices.
