As part of our Tax team, you'll play a key role in managing tax risk and delivering high-quality corporate and funds tax compliance across Insignia Financial. Working alongside experienced tax professionals and business stakeholders, you'll help ensure our tax obligations are met accurately, efficiently and in line with our Tax Governance Framework.
This is an excellent 12 months secondment / max term opportunity for a tax professional with strong corporate and/or funds tax experience who enjoys solving complex problems, improving processes and partnering with the business to deliver quality outcomes.
The Opportunity
You'll support the delivery of corporate and funds tax compliance, governance and reporting activities across the organisation. You'll work closely with Finance, Fund Accounting, Product, Risk and external advisers to ensure tax obligations are managed effectively while continuously improving our control environment.
What you'll be doing
- Support the management of tax risk across corporate and funds tax obligations in line with our Tax Governance Framework.
- Prepare, review and coordinate a broad range of tax compliance obligations, including income tax, GST, withholding tax, tax effect accounting and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure tax calculations, reconciliations and compliance deliverables are accurate, complete and delivered within agreed timeframes.
- Contribute to a strong tax control environment through governance activities, control testing, risk reviews and issue resolution.
- Provide practical tax advice and support to business stakeholders on corporate and funds tax matters.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, reporting and operational efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with Finance, Fund Accounting, Product, Risk, external advisers, auditors and other key stakeholders.
- Assist with tax audits, reviews and ATO interactions, working with external advisers where required.
- Support Board, Audit Committee and management reporting relating to tax compliance, governance and tax risk.
What you'll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Law or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification (preferred).
- Strong experience in corporate and/or funds tax compliance within financial services, professional practice or a large corporate environment.
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax legislation across income tax, GST, withholding tax and tax reporting.
- Experience preparing and reviewing tax calculations, reconciliations and statutory returns.
- Understanding of tax governance frameworks and tax risk management principles.
- Knowledge of investment products, fund structures or managed funds tax will be highly regarded.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and compliance deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across financial systems and large datasets.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
