Senior Risk and Governance Specialist

  • Help shape smarter decisions in a business that’s evolving fast
  • Bring your cloud and tech risk expertise to work that genuinely makes a difference
  • Partner with business stakeholders, solve real problems, and enable safe innovation in the cloud

The opportunity to join our team

We’re looking for a Senior Technology Risk Specialist to join our First-Line Technology Risk team. You’ll partner with a key business unit as applications move into and run in the cloud, working with teams that are building and improving technology every day. You’ll get strong exposure to cloud platforms, fast-moving decisions, and work that has a visible impact.

Our cloud environment is still taking shape, so this isn’t a role where you’ll just maintain the status quo. You’ll help define how risk works in a cloud-first organisation, support teams through new challenges, and strengthen controls in ways that are practical and useful. We’re a financial services business with a down-to-earth culture. We value people who ask questions, use sound judgement, work well with others, and are always looking for ways to make things better.

You’ll work with teams across Insignia Financial to help manage technology and cloud risk in practical ways that support better, faster decisions. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows first-line tech risk and likes working closely with teams to solve problems and challenge thinking.

If you like helping teams manage risk in modern tech environments, this is a chance to do meaningful work, build strong partnerships, and shape how the organisation manages risk as it grows in the cloud.

What you’ll do

  • Be the first-line tech risk partner for a dedicated technology business unit
  • Help teams identify, assess and fix risk across cloud-hosted applications
  • Give practical advice on technology and cloud risk
  • Work closely with cloud platform teams
  • Track technology incidents, issues and follow-up actions
  • Help improve how technology risk is managed across the business

What you bring

You’ll bring solid first-line technology risk experience and a good understanding of cloud environments and how modern tech teams work. Just as importantly, you bring curiosity, creativity and a practical mindset. You’re naturally curious, ask smart questions, and look at challenges from multiple angles. You help teams manage risk without slowing down momentum. You’ll also be joining a team that backs each other, sets a high bar, and genuinely enjoys working together.

  • Exposure to cloud environments, ideally AWS (Azure or GCP also valuable)
  • Confidence working with technical teams and solving problems in practical, creative ways
  • A solid grasp of technology risk frameworks and governance
  • Knowledge of the Australian regulatory landscape (APRA CPS 234, CPS 230 etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with stakeholders
