The opportunity to join our team
We currently have an exciting opportunity to shape how data science directly influences customer outcomes at scale. Embedded within a high impact Marketing & Engagement function, this role uses advanced segmentation and machine learning to deliver more timely, relevant and personalised experiences across the customer lifecycle. The work spans meaningful, real-world challenges, from understanding life stage needs and emerging customer segments through to supporting a range of customers with more targeted engagement.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a hands on, end to end role in designing, building and deploying segmentation and predictive models that power marketing strategy and activation. Working within Google Cloud Platform, you will translate complex business problems into scalable, production ready solutions, partnering closely with marketing, analytics and technology teams to drive measurable outcomes across growth, engagement and retention.
This is a 12 month maximum term opportunity offering strong visibility, influence and the chance to work at the intersection of data science, marketing impact and customer wellbeing. Key focuses of this role include:
- Design, develop and deploy customer segmentation and predictive models to support lifecycle marketing and personalisation
- Build macro and micro segmentation frameworks using techniques such as clustering, behavioural segmentation and value based models
- Develop machine learning models including propensity and predictive models, ideally applied in a marketing context
- Own the full model lifecycle from business problem definition through to deployment and post implementation review
- Use BigQuery to transform and prepare large scale datasets for modelling and analysis
- Build and deploy models within GCP, with experience across Vertex AI or similar platforms
- Partner closely with Marketing, Analytics, Data Engineering and MarTech teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions
- Provide thought leadership on segmentation strategy and best practice modelling approaches across the Marketing & Engagement division
What You Bring to This Role
This role is well suited for an experienced Data Scientist who enjoys working at the intersection of data science, marketing and business impact. To be successful in this role you will have:
- Deep experience in a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer or Advanced Analytics role, delivering end to end modelling solutions
- Experience working collaboratively across marketing, analytics and technology teams, with exposure to MarTech, financial services or customer activation platforms is preferred but not essential
- Strong SQL capability and experience working with large, complex datasets in cloud-based environments
- Hands on experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery, with exposure to Vertex AI or similar ML platforms
- Strong Python skills for modelling, feature engineering, automation and experimentation
- Solid experience with segmentation techniques such as k means, hierarchical clustering, DBSCAN, RFM or custom scoring models
- Experience building, evaluating and maintaining production ready machine learning models, including predictive or propensity models in a marketing or customer engagement context
- A strong understanding of marketing segmentation concepts, including lifecycle, behavioural and value-based segmentation
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision making
