The opportunity to join our team

We’re looking for a passionate, technically skilled and business-savvy Senior Data Engineer who can bridge the gap between technical data engineering and marketing outcomes to join our Marketing Data-Driven Customer Engagement team.

In this role you’ll focus on understanding the bigger picture: how data fuels customer engagement, retention, and growth. You’ll design and automate the assets that power personalised journeys, translating high-level business needs into scalable data products that deliver measurable results.

Working with Marketing, IT, Digital, and Data & Insights, you’ll engineer solutions in Google BigQuery and connect into Adobe Experience Platform to turn raw data into actionable customer segments. These will be the building blocks for insights, campaigns, and new products that shape how we connect with millions of Australians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and automate data products that power personalised marketing experiences
  • Work closely with Martech, Technology, and Campaign teams to enable audience segmentation and activation
  • Design scalable data solutions for customer journey orchestration and real-time personalisation
  • Focus on data usability for marketing, not infrastructure management
  • Design, build, and optimise data assets in Google BigQuery and Adobe Experience Platform
  • Translate commercial and marketing requirements into robust data models and products
  • Build segmentation and automation logic that fuels onboarding, retention, upsell, and win-back campaigns
  • Help integrate predictive models and machine learning into marketing workflows
  • Act as the link between business needs and technical solutions
  • Ensure accuracy, scalability, and compliance across customer data products Mentor mid-level engineers and embed best practice through reviews and technical guidance

 

What You Bring to This Role

  • Strong SQL and advanced experience with Google BigQuery
  • Strong background in data architecture and engineering design patterns
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Platform (or other CDPs)
  • Exposure to machine learning models and customer lifecycle data
  • Familiarity with modern data tools (dbt, Airflow, Python)
  • Commercial mindset: you understand how data products drive marketing and growth
  • Ability to lead complex projects independently and work across technical and non-technical teams
