The opportunity to join our team

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Line 1 Risk Manager to join our Asset Management division to support the Investments and Strategic Delivery teams. This role is responsible for implementation of the Risk Management framework and embedding risk management practices, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and acting as a trusted advisor to the business. You will work closely with Line 1 Risk supporting Product, Distribution and Operations, Legal, and Line 2 risk teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and drive a strong risk culture.
  • Act as the first point of contact for risk and compliance matters for the CIO, Direct Capabilities and Strategic Delivery teams.
  • Ensure risk management, compliance and governance practices are robust, well designed, and embedded within the teams.
  • Ensure risk, compliance obligations and controls are identified, recorded, assessed and appropriately managed
  • Management of the Investments Risk Forum including any other relevant forums.
  • Conduct risk assessments and perform control testing.
  • Lead incident and breach management processes, including root cause analysis and monitoring of remediation actions to completion.
  • Support projects and business initiatives by ensuring the management of executions risks and leading the Delivered Risk assessment activities.
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies, regulatory obligations, and industry standards (e.g., ASIC, APRA, AFSL requirements).

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Law, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in risk, compliance, or audit within financial services, preferably in asset or investment management. Strong understanding of the Asset Management business preferred
  • Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory environment (ASIC, APRA, AFSL).
  • Experience with and knowledge of risk frameworks, obligations management and control assurance.
  • Strong collaboration, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and testing controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Experience in managing incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and monitoring remediation.
  • Ability to proactively identify, escalate and problem solve issues.
  • Ability to execute activities efficiently and manage competing demands.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and report writing skills and attention to detail.
