Investment Performance Analyst

Date:  11 May 2026
Location:

SYDNEY, NSW, AU, 2000

Employment Type:  Permanent Full Time

At MLC Asset Management, we’re focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for members through disciplined investment management, strong partnerships, and data-driven insights. We’re looking for an experienced Investment Analyst to join our team and play a key role in investment performance and portfolio analytics.

This is an opportunity to work within a front-office aligned Asset Management team, partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external providers to deliver high-quality performance reporting and investment analytics.

Unlike many performance roles that sit removed from investment decision-making, this role gives you direct exposure to investment stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute to discussions that genuinely influence outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll support the delivery of investment performance and portfolio analytics across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Your work will help drive transparency, support investment decision-making, and ensure reporting accuracy across products and portfolios.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing investment performance and portfolio analytics across diversified and sector portfolios
  • Preparing periodic and ad hoc reporting packs for internal stakeholders, consultants, and external parties
  • Analysing and cross-referencing investment data from multiple systems including FactSet and Bloomberg
  • Supporting reporting on investment products, asset allocation, portfolio returns, and mandate-related requirements
  • Investigating and resolving data discrepancies and performance queries
  • Building, maintaining, and enhancing reporting models and analytical tools
  • Contributing to process improvements, reporting enhancements, and automation initiatives
  • Working collaboratively with Portfolio Managers, Finance, Investment Operations, Client Relations, and external vendors including FactSet and Morningstar

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who enjoys understanding the “why” behind the numbers, not just producing them. You’ll be detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable working in a fast-paced investment environment with competing deadlines.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience within investment management, superannuation, asset servicing, custody, or broader financial services
  • Previous exposure to investment performance, portfolio analytics, investment reporting, or investment operations
  • Strong understanding of investment products and performance calculations across multi-asset portfolios
  • Advanced Excel capability including pivot tables, lookups, and performance calculations
  • Experience working with investment systems and data platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar, or similar
  • Exposure to VBA, Power BI, or reporting automation tools will be highly regarded
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to confidently communicate with stakeholders across the business
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to challenge processes, explore improvements, and think beyond the status quo
