The opportunity to join our team
As an Indirect Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the Group’s indirect tax risk and ensuring compliance with GST, stamp duty, payroll tax and other applicable indirect taxes. You will provide strategic advice, support internal and external reporting obligations and collaborate with stakeholders across the business to deliver effective tax solutions. This role offers the chance to contribute to process improvement initiatives, develop relationships with key business and external partners and drive efficiency in tax management. You will also provide leadership within the team and support the implementation of indirect tax technology tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Group’s indirect tax risk in line with the Tax Governance Framework, policies, and procedures
- Support indirect tax compliance conducted by the Funds Tax and Corporate Tax teams
- Provide strategic indirect tax advice to support business objectives
- Share responsibility for maintaining a strong indirect tax control environment
- Lead and mentor the team, ensuring focus on key activities and priorities
- Identify, develop, and implement process improvements and efficiencies in indirect tax processes
- Advise management on new or proposed legislation, regulations, or rulings and coordinate internal raining
- Manage relationships with external tax advisers, auditors, and other stakeholders
- Support tax audits, reviews, and disputes, liaising with tax authorities as needed
- Oversee the implementation and effective use of indirect tax technology tools
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders
- Contribute to Board and Audit Committee reporting and ATO stakeholder management
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or law
- Strong understanding of tax laws, with CA/CPA/TIA qualifications preferred
- Knowledge of financial services industry and products preferred but not essential
- Practical experience conducting end-to-end reviews of GST systems and processes, including controls and data testing
- Experience managing engagements with the ATO and State Revenue authorities for audits and reviews
- Understanding of accounting standards and regulations preferred but not essential
- Strong planning, coordination, and execution skills across a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to delegate, empower, and support staff effectively
- Proficiency in computer-based financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
