We’re looking for a senior risk leader to own and drive Line 1 risk capability across our MLC Asset Management business. This role plays a critical part in enabling the commercial delivery of investment products and services safely, compliantly, and within risk appetite, ensuring strong outcomes for clients.

 

You’ll partner closely with the Asset Management Leadership Team, embedding practical risk and compliance frameworks while leading a highly capable Line 1 risk team.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation and adherence risk and compliance frameworks, policies and methodologies across Asset Management
  • Provide risk oversight of business strategy and delivery, ensuring key risks are identified and actively managed
  • Lead core Line 1 activities including management of risk profiles, incidents, controls, assessments, delivered risk assessments, thematic reviews and remediation
  • Assess and communicate relevant regulatory changes and oversee business implementation ensuring compliance
  • Provide risk input into projects, and change initiatives to enable delivery within risk appetite
  • Deliver informative and insightful risk reporting and escalate emerging issues early
  • Oversee incident and breach management ensuring appropriate and timely resolution
  • Lead, develop and inspire a small, high-impact Line 1 risk team

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Proven and strong people leadership capabilities
  • Extensive 10+ years’ experience in operational risk and compliance within financial services
  • Asset/funds management experience is highly advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of managed investment schemes and the associated regulatory environment
  • Deep expertise in risk and compliance frameworks within complex organisations
  • Clear, pragmatic communicator, both written and verbal
  • Solid experience in business and senior stakeholder engagement
  • Proven ability to operate effectively with varying degrees of ambiguity and fast-paced environments
  • Well organised, passion for execution and attention to detail

 

This is a senior, high-impact role for a leader who enjoys balancing commercial outcomes with strong risk discipline, and who wants to shape risk culture at the heart of Asset Management.
