The opportunity to join our team

We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Senior Manager, Government Affairs & Public Policy to play a key role in shaping and influencing public policy outcomes that support our business, advisers, employers and clients. Reporting to the General Manager, Government Affairs & Public Policy, and working closely with the Executive Team and Enterprise Leader Group, this role will lead the development of policy positions across key reform areas, provide strategic policy advice, and support government engagement and advocacy activities across the organisation. This is an opportunity to influence significant regulatory and legislative reform within one of Australia’s most highly regulated and evolving sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of policy positions across priority reform areas impacting the business
  • Drive engagement with internal stakeholders to inform consultation responses and policy positions
  • Oversee the preparation of submissions, consultation responses, briefing papers and advocacy materials
  • Support the development and execution of advocacy strategies aligned to enterprise priorities
  • Monitor legislative, parliamentary and regulatory developments and identify emerging risks and opportunities
  • Provide strategic policy advice to senior leaders and executives on complex policy and regulatory matters
  • Prepare high-quality briefing materials and talking points to support executive and government engagement
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Legal, Risk, Compliance and business units
  • Represent Insignia Financial in industry forums and working groups
  • Ensure all policy outputs meet governance, risk and compliance requirements

 

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years’ experience in government affairs, public policy or advocacy leadership roles
  • Strong experience operating within highly regulated environments, ideally financial services, superannuation or wealth management
  • Demonstrated experience developing policy positions, consultation submissions and advocacy strategies
  • Strong understanding of Australian political, legislative and regulatory processes
  • Proven ability to interpret legislation and regulatory reform and translate impacts into clear business outcomes
  • Exceptional analytical capability and judgement on complex policy issues
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes through collaboration and relationship management
  • Experience advising executives and senior leaders on policy and regulatory matters
