The opportunity to join our team
We’re building modern, scalable and secure AI capabilities that shape the future of how we work. As a Senior Cloud Engineer in our AI team, you will play a key role in designing and delivering the platforms and patterns that make this possible. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with our AI specialists, help define our cloud approach to AI, and enable teams across the business to experiment, deploy and scale safely.
You will collaborate daily with applied AI engineers who are building RAG solutions, agents and next generation AI workflows. This is a rare opportunity to engineer the foundations for meaningful, real world AI adoption that will help to create a positive financial future for millions of Australians. You will be working with modern tools, a clear strategic direction and strong executive support. We are actively investing in the platforms and technologies needed to accelerate our AI roadmap, so you will not be fighting legacy resistance or unclear priorities.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and maintain cloud patterns for AI solutions across multiple providers.
- Partnering with AI engineers to build and optimise APIs for AI services with a focus on security, scalability and performance.
- Supporting deployment of RAG-based solutions across the full data and retrieval lifecycle.
- Build and maintain infrastructure across AWS, Google Cloud and Azure for automated and reproducible deployments.
- Implement monitoring, logging and alerting for AI services using tools such as CloudWatch, X Ray, Firehose and Elastic.
- Ensuring all deployments meet security, compliance and IAM requirements.
- Translate AI model and workflow requirements into robust cloud deployment strategies.
- Optimising cloud resources for cost and performance when running AI workloads.
- Providing guidance and technical leadership on cloud AI services including AgentCore, Bedrock and SageMaker.
What You Bring to This Role
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in application development and AWS/Google engineering.
- Strong experience designing deployment pipelines for AI or data driven applications.
- Familiarity with API design principles for AI and data services.
- Hands on experience with RAG architectures and AI integration patterns.
- Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or ECS.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices in cloud and AI environments.
It will also be helpful if you have: - Exposure to MLOps practices.
- Experience building or supporting data pipelines.
- Familiarity with serverless patterns for AI workloads.
- Understanding of cloud cost optimisation.
